Lompoc Football Strongman Competition
Head coach Robin Luken and the Lompoc football team will hold a Strongman competition this Thursday at 7 p.m. at Huyck Stadium.
Advertisement The competition is a fundraiser for the football team and features seven teams of six players.
A contest that is quite popular on the East Coast, the Strongman Competition features eight events, including the Farmer’s Walk, Tire Turn, Dead Lift, Sled Push, Log Press, Keg Carry and Telephone Pole Carry.
The Pole Carry will be the final event of the night and consists of participants carrying a 10-foot pole around the entire track (440 yards).
Other examples are the Tire Turn where a 400 pound tire must go 15 yards and in the Keg Carry a 40 pound keg of water will be carried 40 yards.
“It will be a good way for me to see how the players compete,” Luken explained. “It will also show me how they get along with their teammates.
The cost for admission is $5 with children under six free.
