This award goes to the player who, even though they recieve little playing time [ Think Rudy], contributes most to the development of the team on the practice field.
It is named after Johnnie Gray, who began playing football late in his tenure at LHS. After playing on the JV squad his senior year, he attended Allan Hancock College and advanced to their varsity unit before moving to Cal State Fullerton.
He eventually became a fixture at Strong Saftey (1975-84) and occasional Punt & Kick Returner for the NFL's GREEN BAY PACKERS . Inducted (March 1993) into the Green Bay Packer's Hall Of Fame after his retirement, he remained with the organisation as a broadcaster.
