League finals was the first step on the road to the CIF state wrestling individual tournament. This weekend, wrestlers will take the next step with the six CIF individual divisions. Action begins Friday afternoon and continues Saturday.

The top five wrestlers in each weight class will advance to the CIF-SS Masters Meet, Feb. 27-28.

Coastal at Whittier High

There are 8 leagues represented at the Coastal Division Meet on Fri/Sat, with 3 automatic qualifiers from each league. The brackets in each weight are set for a 32 member field - but only 29 wrestlers participate. The 24 AQ's, and 5 registered alternates chosen by lot. The three 1st round bye's are also assigned by lot. Eight wrestlers (All AQ's) at each weight are seeded, with the rest of the brackets filled at random.

Obviously, the committee didn't have a great deal of respect for LPL when they met in Whittier. In comparison the PAC-7 had 24 participants seeded in their division. The top 5 in each class advance to the Master's Meet.
