J2 AKA Head Coach Jackie Jaenicke, entering her final season of coaching, was "really pleased" with the effort of her Braves on Tuesday. Although the scores were lop-sided in favor of Atascadero [111-58 varsity, 120-40 JV], she liked the progress the team is making.
On Tuesday, of 37 girls out for the team, she had 15 swimmers on the varsity and 12 on the JV. Two potential varsity swimmers (Molly Barker, Serena Zuares) were out, and varsity stalwart Brooke Crouse is expected to miss the entire season as she recovers from her shoulder injury.
Coach Jaenicke specifically noted performances by Suzanne Silva (1st's in the 200 & 500 Free), Andrea Caballero (1st 50 Free, 2nd 100 Free - after a problem on the turn), a "Fantastic" 100 Breast (1:20.96) by Erika Elenes, and the usual solid effort from Kimly Hoang.
Assisting with the coaching duties this year are JV Coach Kacee Dunleavy (with help from Brooke Crouse), and 'returning' after several years abscence is long-time (30 + years) LHS fixture Al Jaenicke. I wonder how she talked him into it ?
